Hi! My name is Twizzlers! I weight about 19 lbs and I’m guessed to be a Jack russel terrier mix and estimated to be about 2 years old!
🐾 I am shy at first, especially around new people. I like to be the one to approach new people first. Once I get to know you I love to get pets and cuddle! See how cuddly I can be in all of my pictures and check out this video of me relaxing with my foster family in my holiday attire! Click here to see!
🐾 I can be very calm and cuddly, but other times I have lots of energy! When I'm really energetic I like to show my foster parents by running in circles or playing with toys!
🐾 Now that I am comfortable with my foster family, I love to follow my foster parents around the house. When one of them leaves I like to sit by the door and wait for them to return home! See a picture of me on the stairs waiting for my foster dad to return!
🐾 I am very independent, but I have two foster siblings who help me feel more comfortable in my foster home. When they play I generally like to sit back and watch until I feel comfortable joining in.
🐾 My foster family does not have any cats or small children, so we are not sure how I will interact with them.
🐾 I love food! I get very excited for my daily meals! I also love treats. I usually don't feel comfortable taking them directly from your hand, but if you put it on the ground for me I will pick it up quickly!
🐾 I am still getting used to this big box my foster parents call a crate. I need someone who is willing to help me with my crate training.
🐾 I am working with my foster parents and the vet incase there could be another reason that im having accidents so I can be completely potty trained one day. I need someone who will be patient while I work on being 100% potty trained if everything goes well.
🐾 I love going outside! Whether it's in my backyard or for walks with my foster parents, it's one of my favorite places to be! I am not used to my harness, so when my foster parents try to put one on me I like to make them catch me first. I am getting more comfortable with my leash, but I still like to chew on it when my foster siblings stop for potty breaks. I just need a little more work from my future furever family to be fully leash trained.
🐾 I tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. I was treated for heartworm disease and am currently recovering with my foster family. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. This dog's bio is based off the experiences of the foster and/or volunteers of OPH as well as any information that we received from the shelter or previous owner. This is very important because it means that while they may act one way in the foster’s home, you may experience something different in your home.
