My name is Adonis Blue aka Ranger and I arrived June 24th on OPH's Butterfly themed transport. I’m guessed to be a 2.5 year old beagle-cavalier mix. I currently weigh about 45 lbs.
I am one happy chunky boy and so darn handsome. I chase my tail and it is adorable. I've been quiet in my crate all night long, but I may bark if someone walks past and ignores me in my crate. If you have room for all my chunk I'd rather sleep in bed with you!!! I have the cutest snore when I am sleeping.
I do great with my foster fam's medium sized dog, but I did meet a larger dog that I was not comfortable around. I may need slow introductions to new dogs on neutral territory.
I would love a yard to play in! Sometimes I ask to go outside by sitting by the back door, then I find a place to relax in the grass.
I love playing with my foster fam's 5 year old twins. One day I was in a room full of wild children and I had a blast!! Being around people makes me super happy. I am house trained, I love to give kisses and snuggle on couch. Not sure how I will react to cats, but I may want to chase them. I am decent walking on a leash, sometimes I pull if I see a squirrel. I love toys and I also fetch. I am learning and doing very well with the command "drop it."
I love car rides and rolling around on the floor. Lots of rolls going on over here. I have a wiggly butt and silky soft fur, medium-low shedding. My foster family doesn't understand how I havn't found my forever family yet.
Energy wise I am up for almost anything. At times I need rest breaks since I am over weight, but I sure can play with some toys. Once I am down to a healthier weight I think I am going to love to go on long walks! I need your help to lose about 10 pounds!!
Watch me here -
I am named after the Adonis Blue butterfly, a small to medium size butterfly best seen in flight during the summer months and known for their amazingly bright blue coloration found only in the males of the species. Let me "flutter" into your heart. Are you my new family? Apply today to find out!
All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
This dog's bio is based off the experiences of the foster and/or volunteers of OPH as well as any information that we received from the shelter or previous owner. This is very important because it means that while they may act one way in the foster’s home, you may experience something different in your home.
