Meet Cleveland! This sweet boy is between 1 and 2 years old and about 50 pounds. The NC shelter describes him as having the head and body of a big dog, with short legs.
Cleveland has been an all around wonderful dog since he's arrived! He has done great with other dogs he's been introduced to so far (note the picture where he's laying his head on Dunklee) and loves the other dog in the home he is fostered in. He is crate trained and potty trained. He even paws at the door to let you know! Cleveland is a smart boy! He has successfully learned how to sit and he’s learning on how not to jump when meeting new people. He loves everybody!!! He does great in the car, and he's ready for any adventure that lies ahead! Cleveland loves to have his head rubbed and is happy to just be next to you chewing on his toys. Plus he’s always down to cuddle at the end of the day. If you're looking for a best fur-friend to love and play with, Cleveland could be it!
This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable.
