About Candy Cane
Candy Cane’s journey started in South Carolina, where she was found abandoned on the side of the road. Rescued by OPH, she made the long journey to Pennsylvania and quickly settled into her foster home. She’s an affectionate, fun-loving pup who adores people and other dogs. She even gets to be the office greeter when she goes to work with her foster family! With her unique scruffy coat and adorable bunny-like hops through the yard, she’s an absolute joy to be around.
Personality
Candy Cane is sweet, playful, and full of life! She loves meeting new people and wants to be everyone’s best friend. Whether she’s snuggling on the couch or romping in the yard, she brings happiness wherever she goes.
Skills and Training
Candy Cane loves being brushed! She’s working on:
✔ Walking politely on a leash
✔ Not jumping up when excited
✔ Learning basic commands
✔ Staying inside the fence (she’s quite the climber!)
She’s food-motivated and eager to learn, so with a little training, she’ll be a superstar in no time!
Companionship
Candy Cane thrives with other dogs and would love a playful canine sibling. She’s affectionate and enjoys being held, cuddled, and brushed. She’s looking for a home that will continue to provide her with fun adventures, love, and structure.

All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
This dog's bio is based off the experiences of the foster and/or volunteers of OPH as well as any information that we received from the shelter or previous owner. This is very important because it means that while they may act one way in the foster’s home, you may experience something different in your home.
