MEET TATE - A Sweet Boy Full of Puppy Energy, Eager to Show His Family that He's Ready to Learn about the World.
Name: Tate
Gender: Male
Breed: Mixed
Age: 13 weeks old (est. date of birth 11/14/24)
Weight: 8.5 lb.
Current Location: Strasburg, VA
PERSONALITY
Tate is a friendly, playful little boy who will seek out his humans for affection.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
This wee guy needs the right supervision to keep him on the right path while he grows.
This little guy is too young to hold his bladder for more than four hours so he can’t yet begin crate training. He is, however, doing a good job going potty outside in the yard and using the pee pads when he’s inside
COMPANIONSHIP
Tate is full of puppy energy. He loves playing and napping in equal measure, loves humans and craves their company, whether hanging around his people indoors, or exploring the outdoors.
This friendly little guy enjoys following his humans around in the yard when they're exploring outdoors.
TRAINING AND LEARNING
Every day Tate learns new things about the world and about how to have good puppy manners. Potty training is going well and he is doing a good job using the pee pads. He likes sleeping on his elevated Kuranda bed. He does a good job sitting for attention but he still needs to be encouraged to keep sitting or he will soon pop up, unable to contain his exuberance
TRAITS AND IDEAL HOME
Tate’s ideal home is one with a patient family ready to help him learn to be his best self. He would thrive in a home where he will be lovingly rewarded for learning commands, how to politely walk on a leash, stay quietly in his crate, greet people with good manners and all sorts of other important doggy skills. As he learns, he will reward his family with sweetness and loyalty.
LOVE AND AFFECTION
Tate loves affection. His foster mom reports that he will trot on over to his favorite people, seeking affection and a lap to snuggle in.
Tate loves to be held, give kisses and sit in any available warm lap. In his kennel, he entertains him/herself while also entertaining anyone watching, as he engages in adorable play with tug toys, stuffed toys and Nylabones.
If you’re searching for a pint-size pup who will be a super sweet and loyal companion, this may be your guy.

This pup is too young to be neutered, and his future family will need to arrange for this at the appropriate time.
All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
This dog's bio is based off the experiences of the foster and/or volunteers of OPH as well as any information that we received from the shelter or previous owner. This is very important because it means that while they may act one way in the foster’s home, you may experience something different in your home.
