#13796 Pongo

Large-size, Male, Adult Dalmatian x Mixed Breed,

AGE: approximately 3 years

ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 78 lbs, with a little to shed

KNOWN WITH DOGS: Pongo is not quite sure how to play with other dogs due to a lack of socialization. He is a bit reactive when it comes to meeting dogs while he is on leash. We recommend that Pongo be the only dog in his home or only meet new dogs when he can be given the appropriate time to adjust. Pongo is currently living peacefully with 8 other dogs, but that did require a period of time where he could see, smell and hear them but not approach them.

KNOWN WITH CATS: Pongo has had limited exposure to cats and he was reactive from a distance

KNOWN WITH KIDS: Pongo LOVES people of all sizes. More to love him. He is very strong and the kids should not be walking him on leash.

KNOWN COMMANDS: Pongo knows sit and down although he is almost always in that position anyway.

KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Pongo does well in crates and is housebroken. However, he does not use a crate in his foster home as he is not destructive, just purely lazy.

KNOWN LIKES: Pongo likes to pets and loves to chew hard bones and toys.

KNOWN DISLIKES: Pongo does not like other dogs in his space until he knows them. He really doesn't like bossy dogs at all.

ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: You know how they say, "bigger is better"? Well, foster mom disagrees and he is on a mission to shed a few pounds (but he’s still convinced it's all muscle).

Pongo's got a smile that could melt butter and a personality as sweet as a cookie. If you're up for lounging around, he's your guy. Pongo is a master cuddler, always ready to soak up the love.

Don’t miss out on the chance to welcome this adorable, goofy bundle of joy into your life – hit that apply button now before someone else snags him!

Pongo He is best in a home without cats. Pongo is currently being fostered in Baltimore, MD.

All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.

This dog's bio is based off the experiences of the foster and/or volunteers of OPH as well as any information that we received from the shelter or previous owner. This is very important because it means that while they may act one way in the foster’s home, you may experience something different in your home.
