Hi!
My name is Sparkles and I’m part of the transport that came to OPH on 8/16/24. I’m guessed to be a Border Collie mixed breed dog. I am a 5 year old gal and weigh about 29 lbs.

My foster mom says I am a perfect angel! I am playful and loyal and I love my humans. That's why I am always up for cuddles. I'll even sit my butt down and give you a gentle hug with my fluffy paws. I know the commands "sit" and "down" and I'm enjoying learning the word "kennel," because my foster mom presents me with a treat when she says the word and then I happily go right into my kennel.

My foster mom says I have not had any potty accidents in the crate or anywhere in the house. I have good manners on a leash and even when I get the scent of something very interesting, I know to always stay by my human, which I prefer to do anyway.

My foster mom hasn't seen me interact with too many other dogs yet but I am friendly and mellow with the ones I have met so far. As for the barn cats I've encountered, I am keeping my distance ever since one of them swatted at me when I just came in for a sniff.

I do love to chew nylabones, antlers, kongs and puzzle toys but because I have good manners, I don't shred bedding or stuffed toys.

I can't wait to get to my forever home! Is that with you? Apply to adopt me today! This cuteness won’t be available for long!

"This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. The disease was treated while in foster care. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Sparkles Sparkles is currently being fostered in Union Bridge, MD.

All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.

This dog's bio is based off the experiences of the foster and/or volunteers of OPH as well as any information that we received from the shelter or previous owner. This is very important because it means that while they may act one way in the foster’s home, you may experience something different in your home.
