Hi! My name is Walt and I just arrived to OPH from Mississippi. I’m a Shih Tzu mixed breed dog, a 7 year old guy and weigh about 14lbs, (my birthday was recorded as 8/1/2017 at the shelter).
My foster mom says I'm the perfect gentleman house guest! I'm a happy guy, seems house and crate trained, quit and mellow. I roll with my tongue out most of the time. I have been good with all the dogs I've met so far...good with humans of all sizes as long as they are calm and gentle with me. I've started to do a happy dance when my foster mom speaks in a baby voice to me. I like to back my bottom up to you so you can scratch my favorite spot above my tail. I sleep in a crate at night with no issues, don't really find a need to make a lot of sounds or bark. I'm just a laid back dude that loves to snuggle! If you're looking for a low-key companion, I'm your guy!
I had eye surgery because my eye lashes were plucking at my eye the wrong way, I also had a dental cleaning. So just know, my eye is still healing a little and I get drops twice a day for a few more days.

All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
