About Tom
Hi! I’m Tom, a 10-year-old Jack Russell mix with a gentle soul and a lot of love to give. My early years weren’t easy, but thanks to my foster mom, I’m learning to trust humans and embrace my new, happy life. Personality I’m a bit of a quiet, reserved gentleman, but each day I grow more comfortable with affection and attention. My foster mom says I’m blossoming and am even starting to enjoy pets and the occasional cuddle. I’m looking for a calm, patient home where I can continue to build my confidence and know I’m safe and loved.
Energy Level
I’m moderately active and love a good walk, though I still get a little nervous when the leash comes out. I’m also a bit of a jumper, so a tall fence would be great to keep me safe while I explore the yard.
Skills and Training
While I’m still working on potty training, I’m making progress every day. Since so much of this is new to me, I’ll need a family that understands my journey and can patiently support my growth.
Companionship
My ideal home would be a quiet, gentle one, with someone who has a soft touch and the time to help me grow into my best self. I’ve discovered that I love being around people once I get to know them and would be so happy to find a forever family who’s ready for a calm, loyal companion.
Love and Affection
I’m learning each day that life is better with love, and I can’t wait to share that with my new family! Could that be you? If you’re ready for a patient and rewarding journey with a sweet, resilient dog, apply to adopt me today.

All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
This dog's bio is based off the experiences of the foster and/or volunteers of OPH as well as any information that we received from the shelter or previous owner. This is very important because it means that while they may act one way in the foster’s home, you may experience something different in your home.
